NGD! Strat goodness
Well, my CS336 covers a lot of ground, we play 4 sets and I got no real complaints...but I do hear Strat tones in my head I know will turn certain songs into what they should feel like. I sold my JV Strat years ago, still regrets but I moved to all humbuckers. I decided to go on a hunt for one months ago, even bought a set of Lace Holy Grails from a member here before i had a Strat. My brother in Oregon has found a LOT of deals there, he's prolly the original American Picker...been buying and flipping stuff for years, from antiques to clothes, motorcycles and alot of music gear...I know his custom order DW drum kit was paid for by his picking...
He emailed me saying he just picked up a dead mint '96 50th anniv Strat...it still had the original factory strings! Same color as my JV but with a RW neck! I called him up and said sell it to ME! Non Fender hard case with sealed case candy, even plastic still on the guard and back plate. The strings and frets were corroded, but after polishing the frets, no fret wear. I'm not crazy about the vintage skinny wire, but this will be mostly for rhythm work. Not a scratch or ding anywhere...like NOS.
I kept the gold guard from my JV, my pups came with aged knobs so i swapped everything over. The cheapo plastic nut is gonna be changed, but what a glorious tone through my old Champ...pure Strat goodness. Oh yeah, $200.00 for a 14 year old closet classic.:cool2: The serial number has a 62..I'm guessing this is a '62 style Strat...I am so digging it. Nice weight and balance...I love my brother...of course he told me..IF I sell it, we split the profit...hehe, I'm holding on to this one...Les Paul, 336 and Strat...I'm good.:naughty:
