NGD - telecaster content.

Picked up a tele that I had on layaway this morning. I'm super excited. I've wanted a traditionally set up tele for a while, and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it in the store. After some trading and some cash, it's mine!

Picture coming shortly.

Sorry that took so long, got busy at work and didn't have a chance to post.

Re: NGD - telecaster content.

You stole Nostalgic's Tele?

Perhaps. Does he have one if these?

I'm pretty pleased with it. It plays really nicely, and sounds pretty good (cool finish aside, it's got MIM electronics). At some point I'll be swapping the pickups with some TV Jones telecaster pickups.

Re: NGD - telecaster content.

Sweet! I always get a little envious whenever I see one of those! :fing2:

LOL, stole Nostalgic's Tele... If he had he wouldn't be posting anything anymore, but he would get to experience what it's like to have both ears pierced at the same time?

I've got a really cool piercing gun, it does both ears with a single shell of Buckshot!!!

Re: NGD - telecaster content.

Nice finish on that one! What pickups did you put in? At some point, I'll be putting in the new TV Jones telecaster set.

I've got a Quarter Pound Lead For Tele in the bridge and a Phat cat in the neck. She sounds flipping heavenly!!! Everything you could possibly ask for from a Telecaster but with enough power to play very aggressive stuff too! It makes for a extremely versatile guitar!

Personally I think Duncan should start selling the Q.P. Lead & Phat Cat together as a set (they could call it the Nostalgic Tele set) because of how well they compliment each other! They are pretty much perfectly balanced & they're both Twangy & Thick at the same time. Position 2 on the blade gives you super rich cleans & a very humbucker-esq signal while under gain & of course hum-cancellation too....

Anytime someone asks me what they should load their Telecaster with these guys are the first pickups I recommend!!!

Re: NGD - telecaster content.

Ok, what the heck is the deal with that finish? Really cool, but I've never seen that before (sorry, Nostalgic, didn't see yours, either) :)

Re: NGD - telecaster content.

That's a setup that intrigues me. I'm sold on the TV Jones set for this guitar, but I'm a tele nut, so I'm sure I'll end up with another. This is technically my third tele, but none of the others have a traditional tele configuration.

Re: NGD - telecaster content.

Yeah, I've got a few Tele's but only one that's setup like a true traditional Telecaster. It's a Sunburst Standard with a Maple neck/fingerboard & it has a Five/2 for Tele set in it as well as an upgraded harness. Every time I consider selling or trading that thing I end up saying to myself "it's the only REAL Tele you've got" & then I end up keeping it because I know I'll instantly regret the sale or trade!

Probably just as well? I should have one & there's no way in Hades that I'm messing with the pickup configuration in my Psych-O-Teleic!!! I do highly recommend trying out the Q.P./Phat Cat combo to anyone who has the chance, everyone who's ever played mine has fallen in love with it's tone! Even guys that typically really don't like Telecasters....

The process used to give these guitars that swirl finish is actually really cool to watch & can be done at home pretty cheap with a few easily obtained materials!!!

They basically just take acrylic paint & drop it into a bath of water and borax, (Sodium Borate) obviously the paint floats on top of the water because oil & water don't like each other very much?:duh: Then the body is dipped into the water/paint mixture & when it's pulled back out all the swirling paint sticks to it like a condom!!!

There's a YouTube video or two on the subject, just type swirl paint job for guitar body and you should find it...

Re: NGD - telecaster content.

I have a friend who made a computer desk using a similar process with a similar result.

I'll probably end up with at least two or three more teles. At least one is going to end up with a QP and either a Phat Cat it an SM-3 and one will be a JD and SM-1
