NGD Telecaster

Hey guys, I just got this beauty last Tuesday at Guitar Center brand new. I did a straight trade with my Goth Epiphone Les Paul Studio for it. This is a 2012 model which has the Gold lettering on the headstock which IMO, looks much better than the old models that have the black . I installed some copper shielding and a Sprague .047 Orange Cap already on the Tome Pot , and am awaiting my new vintage style 3 Brarrel topload bridge to come in today. This guitar sounds much better with the .047 Cap in it and for the price, which was $179.00, this is a helluva deal. Once I have the new bridge installed on it, then I'll be truly happy. The stock bridge is a pain to restring with the stock saddles being the way that they are. Why Squier made this a top load with those kind of saddles, is stupid as far as I'm concerned.

Re: NGD Telecaster

I have the same guitar (Squier Tele Affinity, right?) and trust me, you're gonna hate it as much as you're gonna hate it, but if you upgrade it as you said i think it might be killer. You found exactly what was wrong with this guitar, and I thank you for that, I might get the same upgrades :) Oh btw, be careful when unscrewing the scratchplate and stuff, the wood on mine isn't very hard, so be careful as it might drill in easily.

Well I'll be honest with you here , It's not that bad of a guitar. I enjoy doing mods on guitars like these. I already installed some Copper shielding tape in the electronics and pickguard cavities and also put in a new Sprague .047 Orange cap on the tone pot, which made a huge difference in the sound of the guitar itself. According to USPS , my Vintage 3 saddle bridge will finally be in today which I am looking forward to putting in on this baby. I've already unscrewed the scratchplate to put in the copper shielding under the bridge pickup and I didn't have any problem with the wood or anything else pal. Mine is made of Alder which is what the Fender Standards are made of , so maybe yours is a older model ?

Re: NGD Telecaster

Maybe they used a different wood on the older models, I'm not sure about that. If the quality is the same, the bad things will start to happen after some years of playing, for the first two years I had nothing to complain about. It is a good guitar when brand new but after 3 years, mine started to f*k up (bridge saddles moving around, fret wear and such). Hope this will not happen to you, and enjoy it while it still works. As you said, it is not a bad guitar after all.

Mine is a 2012 model which is made of Alder w/ a Maple neck. Fender uses Alder on their MIM & MIA Telecasters so I don't know what the problem was with yours. I'll admit that the stock bridge saddles are not the best which is why I ordered a new toploader bridge that has the classic 3 barrel saddle design. It just came in yesterday and I'll be installing it today . When I'm done, I'll post some new pics of it. That will make a huge difference with the restringing and the sound of the guitar as well.

Here it is finally completed with the new bridge finally installed. This made a mega difference in the sound of the guitar as well. I'm digging it now fer sure !
