It's arrival day!


These are NICE. Two-point tremolo, SINGLE string tree, large headstock and SATIN fretboard. It's almost like they've been spying on me. The back of the neck is perfect, no stick, no need to "work it in". I could do without the glossy headstock, but removing the "Affinity Series" mark? GENIUS.

Good price, too. (For Australia.) $499 direct from Fender and with free shipping this month, how could I not?

I have a roller tree to put on this, which will be nice since I have to flip the damn thing around before I can really play it (the boon of a left-hander) and having an extra bendy bottom string will be fun.

I only just recently had some mods done to a Bullet strat that I will now have to transfer to this. I could just move the whole pickguard from that to this, but the other pickguard doesn't have the black stripe.



Which is fiddly, but whatever, in the end it will be awesome.

It probably wouldn't hurt. I spend almost zero time at that end of the fretboard anyway so it won't affect my playing.

If I can find the right one, either Hello Kitty - it needs to be black and white to "work", or Spider-Gwen, which would obviously need to be in colour.

It will look cooler when I buy a coiled cable for it. That's where the magic is.

I also won't have to play it so close to the fretboard. The front jack might be iconic, but straight cables are annoying.

I had this one on my black Strat with white pickguard. When I saw it it was back facing in the display case, so it looked like it was black and white, but It was full color on a clear background. However, being stubborn and knowing from doing models for years that I could make it a waterslide sticker I trimmed it with a razor soaked it overnight, and applied it flipped over like a water slide with the non color side facing upwards.​
