wow that's weird. do you have to sort of "work under the strings" to get the new pickup into place and snap in the pickup/ring to the wooden thingy (seems like that would scrape up the body)? do you need to unwind the strings a bit to do a swap? can you rig about any 6 string pickup into one of the modules?

Just snap it in. The brass needles snap into clamps on the treble side, the bass side needles just stick in the wood. The wooden base stick tight in the body. I have to press against the pickups surrounds to push it out.
I have 4 paf humbucker clones, 2 dearmond copies, one humbuckersized p-90, one CC copy, one P90 (has some gap with no goof hider) and 2 copies of FilterTron in humbuckersized housing.

I'm surprised this concept isn't commonplace in the guitar world. I've often thought of wiring one guitar with a 4 terminal snap on connector inside each pickup cavity. Sort of like the Liberator pot, but it's a connector only.
