NGD USA Pilsen (WI-70)

I was able to procure an 05 USA Washburn WI-70 Pilsen. It arrived a couple days ago. It was in pretty good shape. It was in a Washburn gig bag. A couple dings on it (body and tip of headstock) but nothing serious with an over very good to excellent condition. I have not taken pictures as yet but here is the ebay ad of you want to see it (it is just a jet black and chrome guitar). I have an 05 LP (50's profile), and 95 Hamer Studio (USA) for comparison. LP has Seth Lover 50th Ann and the Hamer DZ 36ths. I was looking for a quality LP like guitar to take places I did not wish my LP to visit. I also wanted something that had a differ vibe (pickups) with a LP like voice.

It has a LP 59 or larger Tele neck profile (24.75" scale). It has SD 59 neck and SD CC bridge with coil taps. It is gloss back and chrome no binding. It is maple capped (3/4") with thicker mahogany body (2 inches at edge). The body is larger than either the LP or Hamer. It will not fit in a standard LP case as the lower bout is too large. It is chambered in some way. It is about the same weight as my 05 LP standard. The fretwire is a larger than the medium jumbo (and the LP) but smaller than the 6100 in the Hamer (new refret) wire. The fretwork is excellent with the buzz feiten system. I set my Turbo Tuner up to tune the buzz feiten way. It has Grover 18:1 tuners. Tone Pro's stop bar and bridge set up. It hangs like an LP and plays like one sitting down (save it has better upper fret access).

Playability is excellent. I really feels great in my hands. Action was set nicely for me so I have not messed with it at all. I will move to .9's (it has .10's now) when I get around to it. It has the vintage voiced A5 SD 59 percussive neck tone. Bridge is a great CC tone like an LP as well. It is a very nice and solid LP voice. Excellent sustain, harmonics and LP sound. Excellent grunt - like a nice LP. I cannot really tell much of an impact of the the body chambers, perhaps as my LP is chambered as well. Fit, finish and workmanship is excellent - as good as my Hamer (excellent) and LP (excellent).

Overall this thing is an amazing steal for those looking for an LP style guitar with a better playability (upper fret access) but than an LP much more an LP voice than something my really Hamer. It is not figure top guitar, but that was not the point here. I have no intention of losing the LP or Hamer. They are great. This Washburn is every bit as good a guitar as they are to me. I feel as if I have won the ebay gamble on this one. These things are great.
