NGD: Warmoth Strat

After about 5 years of having the Esquire, in addition to several pickup changes, I've come to the conclusion yet again that I am not a Tele style guitar guy. The old 80's MIJ Contemporary I sold some years ago I probably would've kept but that is the only one that was really comfortable for me. So, I sold the Tele body completely loaded and have a Strat body and all the hardware I need coming from Warmoth. I kept the neck, also a Warmoth, same type/profile as what is on my 25 year-old Frankenstrat.

It's 4lbs 1oz, solid alder, had it routed HSH since in the Showcase it was SSS. Vintage 6-screw trem (ordered Gotoh trem, same one on my Frankenstrat). Black pearl pickguard, single volume in the Tone 2 spot and a bridge humbucker. The Perpetual Burn is going to go in wired to a CTS 500K push/pull that I ordered from Stew-Mac (same ones seen in the LP Traditional Pros). It should all be here on Thursday.

Here is a mock-up I did. It's tough to get the pickguard to be exact since black pearl isn't in the virtual builders but it represents the idea enough. There's also 2 knobs in this mock-up, which I might go to if I don't like the PB without a tone control.

Re: NGD: Warmoth Strat

Thanks. I didn't want to go with a white pickguard and parchment was a candidate but with one pickup, it needed something darker to blend better. The black pearl does it just right. And I really like the color of the body. The stock photo from the Showcase is a tint darker.

Re: NGD: Warmoth Strat

I like that color- can't wait to see the completed guitar!

Re: NGD: Warmoth Strat

I can't either. Being a Strat guy. I'm really looking forward to this one. I've done a few others but with much less quality bodies. One was a MIM Fender body that I thought would work well but was a dud in the end. I honestly think the bridge had something to do with it.

"Out for delivery". The longest day ever....LOL.

Re: NGD: Warmoth Strat

Hahaha. I've done the EVH stripes thing when I was a teenager. No more. I'll gladly apply other things that he brought to the table on my guitars but not the stripes.

Re: NGD: Warmoth Strat

looks real nice. just a suggestion - doing a logo in the sm color of the body would really "tie the room together". Just a thought.

Re: NGD: Warmoth Strat

I'm looking at doing a logo on the headstock possibly. Not sure yet. The mock-up is what was available on the site. The neck has a logo by default.

Re: NGD: Warmoth Strat

That’s going to be a killer guitar.
FWIW...I can absolutely relate to not being a Tele guy.
I have a beautiful Tele but I just can’t jive with it. I love how they sound when other people play them but when I do...forget it.
Plus the feel is just not for me either

Re: NGD: Warmoth Strat

what did you use to configure the guitar? I know there is a thing out there but I can't find it again.
