NGD: Worst Budget Shopper Ever Edition

Re: NGD: Worst Budget Shopper Ever Edition

This thread reminded me to get my modified PRS EG II out of its case. HFS/Artist/Artist humbuckers, no coil spiltting faggotry, surprisingly good "Stratty" tones. Gibson metal top knobs. Looks like a Hamer. :D

LOL "Coil splitting faggotry" I am lauphing at this cuz I just checked out an old twin silver face amp at a GC near my house. I played several guitars thru it and one was a fender with the super needo coil spliting button on there delux american strat. I found the regular positions kinda weak to accomidate the super needo coil switch option and I finally pulled down a regular strat and got a better tone out of standard wireing and pickups thru the twin.

Congrats on the guitar, I think there a few companies you can trust that will allways try to keep there quality bar high no matter where there stuff is made or the price point. PRS seems to be one of them along with Music Man and a few others

Re: NGD: Worst Budget Shopper Ever Edition

very nice guitar! looks like a singlepiece top! am I right?

ps: did you get it for around 600$?! or did I miss something?

Thanks everybody! As far as I can tell its a 1 piece back and top. I was so excited about how it sounded that I didn't even think to look at that when I was buying it.

And it cost me about $1100, which seems to be about the market price for the CE's. It was way more than I wanted to spend but totally worth it in my mind. This thing is awesome!

And the Scotchbright pads worked like a charm. Plays as good as it sounds now, no stickiness at all. Its disgusting how much crud came off the back of that neck... But it feels great now.

Does anybody know what the body is made out of on these? I thought they were mahogany but I read somewhere that they were alder. Not that it makes a difference to me either way, but now I'm curious. It certainly doesn't look like alder to me. It has that shimmer to it in the light that mahogany usually does.
