For Christmas I was fortunate enough to get 2 new guitars. First, a Gibson Les Paul Studio Tribute 50's with humbuckers in Honeyburst finish. The second one will remain a mystery until tomorrow when I can take some pics of it.
The Gibson is fantastic. There is some nice light figuring on the top. Fit and finish was flawless out of the box. It is the most resonant Gibson I have ever had or played. It is also the first chambered LP I have had, all of my previous Gibbys were weight relieved I believe. The baked maple is really nice, it is quite dark on this one and my jam buddy was shocked that it wasn't rosewood. It plays smooth and isn't as porous as rosewood. The only downfall is the 498t/490r pickup combo and the PCB electronics, but I plan to put some Antiquities in it along with an RS kit.
Bottom line: Incredible guitar at an incredible price. I have had it for a week and I am already gassing for a P90 Goldtop Tribute LP to join it!
Enough talking, here are the pics!
Hope you like it! This concludes part 1, part 2 will come tomorrow.
