This is the second part of my NGD, my new 2011 Epiphone Sheraton II in Ebony!
First off, this guitar is freakin CLASSY looking. Ebony w/ gold is pure elegance. I think it would look better with black reflector knobs so I might just get some for it. Fit and finish is among the best I have ever seen on an Epiphone. It could use a setup but build quality is tops. Of course it isn't on par with a Gibson 335, but a very solid, well built instrument none the less. Weight is comfortable at around 8.5 pounds.
Sonics: Unplugged it rings out well, fairly loud, and very alive. Plugging it in shows how versatile this guitar can be. Smooth, warm jazz? You betcha. Classic, crunchy rock? Yep. And it loves the blues! The only other semi hollow I have owned was a 72 Thinline Tele so this is my first 335 body and I have been having a lot of fun with it.
Verdict: A lot of guitar for the money. Sounds great, although I plan to put some gold Set Lovers in it to bring out its full potential. Plays smooth, built well, and won't put you on a ramen diet or get you kicked to the couch by the wife. Hard to go wrong.
I was fighting this camera today, sorry for the blurry shots, I will take better ones later.
