Ngd

Re: Ngd

Rats! You shoulda bought mine. SD Antiquities, II neck, 1 bridge. Adding the option of series connection of both PUs would provide extra output.

Re: Ngd

Congrats brother! That guitar really seems to suit you!

Yeah, it totally does. Sadly I might have to say goodbye though:

I'm pretty broke and something has to go. the jag is great, but its pretty worn and i can get more for my money.

I'm torn.

Re: Ngd

pictures.

Modifications are;
SD Antiquity (1) neck PU
SD Antiquity II bridge PU
DiMarzio Pro Parts 1 MegOhm special taper pots on the Lead circuit
Sprague cap
Switchcraft jack socket
Wilkinson USA aluminium wedge spacer between machineheads and rear face of headstock
Allparts Mustang bridge saddles
Mucho insulation tape around the bridge posts to prevent rocking movement.
Allparts Fender "amp" control knobs. (The OEM hexagonal knobs would not fit on the DiMarzio pot shafts.)

One day, I shall replace the three slider switches with a Fender 4-way selector switch wired bridge, both (in parallel, in phase), neck, both (in series, in phase).

congratulates man, howdo those jags play and sound?

Re: Ngd

how do those jags play and sound?

I usually liken the Jaguar most closely to a Telecaster in the sense that their hardware makes a major contribution to the finished sound. Short scale, shallow string break angle over the saddles, over four inches of string between the saddles and the anchor point, no end of metal hardware. All adds up to bright and plinky with masses of unusual overtones.

Glenn's Japanese Jaguar re-issue is stock so, right now, with OEM pickups, it will sound sh!te. After upgrading to American pickups and electronics, the guitar will still sound sh!te but in an interesting way. There is no way to totally kill those metallic overtones. My approach is to make a feature of them. I am mostly using my CIJ Jaguar re-issue for rhythm guitar duties.

The neck of the Japanese Jag is a narrow D profile whereas an American model has a shallower, wider shape. Playing feel depends largely upon the string gauges. Many users choose .011s or .012s to compensate for the short scale. My favourite sources for hints and tips on these guitars are www.jag-stang.com and another one with the words Offset Waist in its name. (I'll have to search for that one and post the correct name later.)

Why? You just got it.:dunno:

Remember that Glenn has two Jaguars. He has been trying different alterations on the black HH model for a good while now. Maybe, that is the one that has to go?

Re: Ngd

Holy crap, I thought you failed at potential purchases, but failing at actual purchases is even worse!

I'm broke.

Dead broke. I think I have 20 cents in my bank account and about $1.50 on me.

maybe i wont have to sell anything, let's see.

and yes, the Fender Jaguar and Mustang are really crappy guitars in comparison to a top of the line Les Paul or USA Strat, but they excel at their own thing. I'm interested in them because of how they make fuzz pedals sound.

i meant the newer (older? its a 90s model) burst jaguar.

i still havent talked to the other guy with a jaguar. maybe I can trade for my tele and sell the burst one and still have a single coil jaguar?

Re: Ngd

Er, I'm confused now. Exactly how many Fender Jaguar guitars do you OWN at this time?

I believe that you own one black HH Jag. This thread implies that you have just purchased one Japanese sunburst vintage re-issue Jag.

Post #36 implies that you are thinking to offload two guitars (MIM Tele and one Jag) to finance another sunburst Jag (country of origin not stated).

Re: Ngd

I don't believe in crappy guitars. I only believe in crappy players. It's like politicians... inept, incapable but drive an expensive ship into an iceberg on a daily basis.

If you make those things sound good, they are good!
