Ngd!

I've been gas-ing for a LP style guitar. I didn't want to drop a whole load of cash, so I got this:

Mahogany Body/Neck (set)
24.75" Scale with 12" FB radius
True maple cap with flaming and burst
Duncan designed PU's (JB/Jazz)

Can you guess what it is? Crappy iphone picture doesn't do it justice, as it looks fantastic! Plays great and sounds awesome too. Didn't even set it up yet, and it rocks right away. Nice and mellow, smooth sound, and sweet meaty flavor. So far I'm very excited and I'm a little concerned my strat may start to feel neglected!

Re: Ngd!

Some Chinese import made by teenagers?

No sorry...way off. They were actually pre-teens. Also, its Korean not Chinese.

I guess I'll to give it to alteredbeast, as it was based off of a DeArmond. Its a Squier M-77, which was the Fender continuation after they bought DeArmond. From what I understand its largely similar to its predecessor, however it obviously has different pickups. It was part of their "24" series, which were supposed to be more quality Squiers (oxy moron?). The quality and build of this one seems very nice. The inlays are set very nicely and I don't see any imperfections and the maple cap is nice (fairly thick as well). There isn't any dye on the bindings or any other imperfections that I can see. Got it for a nice price, so I can't complain. Seems like a tough crowd here, but I'm still excited.

Re: Ngd!

Good lookin' guitar. Play it til it surrenders and becomes truly yours, like a well-broke stallion.

Re: Ngd!

Great color! The body shape reminds me of an Ovation acoustic. Can't say I absolutely love the shape, but I bet it's comfortable to play. Happy new guitar day!

Re: Ngd!

Is it a flat top or carved? I can't quite make it out in the photo.

Its a carved top. Its hard to tell much from that picture. It doesn't look so acoustic and awkward when you hold it, because its not as big as it appears. For comparison purposes, this is the group shot.

That's a beautiful collection. I'm seriously jealous of that Supersonic Vista (I think that's their name?). I've wanted one of those for pretty much forever and you got it in a sweet colour too.

Thanks! Yes, its a Super-Sonic which was part of Squier's Vista Series (MIJ). I bought it new around 98, and it was my first guitar. Its still my number one and plays great, even better than my Fender's (although none are American yet). Almost none of it is stock as of now...just the body and neck. That whole vista series was great, if you can find any (especially a super-sonic) when they come around they are well worth it!

Thanks to this forum I'll probably be looking for pickup suggestions in a month or two! I think I'd like to get a more vintage flavor out of this new one (and I'm now just obsessed with tinkering too).

Thanks!

Re: Ngd!

I almost grabbed one in that exact color at my local GC...had Green DiMarzios in it too...all for $129.99. It was a very nice looking, comfortable feeling and playing guitar.
