More new guitars in this year then any year of my life Vox SDC 22 Double Cutaway used condition 2 from MF for $339.99 came with a Tusq XL nut so I am happy , weird tuning machine knobs and wraparound kind of bridge. Took 10 min to set it up and intonate, former owner jacked the bridge pup up to where it was almost touching the strings wtf over ? Not a bad sounding guitar kind of bright , not a ton of change in the tone adjustment.

Re: NGD

Congratulations! Looks like it has great fret access. Nice burst too. How heavy is it? Looking forward to some tone clips later.

Re: NGD

Very light but the mini humbuckers sound alot like regular ones aka say humbucker light. With the pickups wired series/parallel it has some different textures there but not alot. They call them Vox XLM extra loud minis not bad just kind of spoiled with my last set I just got for my 335 Fralin Pure PAFs. Might have to get a set of Fralins for this one too hard call to make. As far as being a lower end guitar it is well built and was easy to get setup and intonated, fretwork and finish are solid. Has Alpha pots and undeterminable switch/jack. Have to take the paint off the neck so will be a few days before I can put something up.

Re: NGD

cool! I've heard good things about these Vox guitars.

Kinda cool that they got back into the guitar biz after so long.

Re: NGD

I took a bunch of pics ! Anyway the heel is a block of different wood , much softer then the mahogany but it looks better after oil for some reason? The paint becomes very thick starting at the heel so it was a PITA to get off (used a sander) I would say it is close to 1/8 " thick ! Now it feels pretty dern good and I have dropped the action down pretty far. Adjusted the pup height again but not sure if I want to go a little closer or a touch further away the 2 best spots by my ear at least. Generally I start around 3/16" away and most of them stay around 1/8" distance. All in all not a bad guitar , was hoping I could avoid at least some of the normal upgrades I do . The horrible knobs on the tuning keys had to go instantly ! Worst design of all time ! Lucky I had some keystones laying around , heck I woulda put black ones on there if I didn't have those!

Re: NGD

O thought those were bolt on necks. Nice. I've been hoping a scc33 falls in my lap.

off u see did MRSAge, I m on tapa talk and auto correct is hating on me

Re: NGD

I only do that to other peoples guitars for $100 bucks (I meant $200 bucks) ! Way too much work to do on something I am not going to play all the time too. My shoulder still hurts , oh wait that has nothing to do with sanding geez. I just can't stand to have paint on a neck , rubs me the wrong way. For a cheaper bottom end guitar it is pretty decent now jon , the 33s look to be a step up from this but I bet they still would need a full upgrade all across the board.

Re: NGD

Well you played it man and we agree the pups aren't bad sounding they just don't have that say Firebird pup twang and brightness that is so neat. Probably a custom wound set by Fralin. The standard bridge mini they make is around 10k so we get the set with the adjustable poles and nickel covers 10k bridge 9k middle and 8k neck . That is of course hoping it is a swimming pool route , if not it will still get 3 pups. Probably no fancy wiring just a 6 way jimmy page toggle switch to get all options.
