NGD!

Re: NGD!

some sort of locking tuner would make string changes way easier
I have set in to changing all my guitars to locking tuners for just that reason

hard tails
floyded
acoustics

looking for a version for bass
love them things
put that ***t on everything

Re: NGD!

One thing that will help with the non sealed Klunson style is to put a couple of drops of oil in the hole on the back when changing strins. Also look for ones for a 10mm hole, that's what newer guitars use, older ones used a smaller diameter hole and the bushing won't fit tightly.

I'm not sure what you mean by the 10mm hole. A Kluson bushing is a Kluson bushing if it's meant for an original style installation, as the OP's setup would be. The hole in his headstock is smaller than 10mm.

Re: NGD!

Awesome guitar! I love the JB. I even had it in the neck of my RG back in the day.

Congrats and enjoy!!

Re: NGD!

the JB is real particular about where it sits under the strings
too low and its weak and thin
too high and its muddy

when you find the sweet spot its hairmetal

set the JB's height first
then move the Jazz up or down to match volume

I'm not that experienced with pickup height/placement but the tech at the guitar shop said he moved to the right heights and set it up.

Adjusting it isn't a science... Well, there technically is science behind it, but it's something that takes a small screwdriver (like my Husky 8-in-1 small screwdriver) and a little bit of a time. Plug in, turn up your amp, and turn the height adjustment screws in very tiny increments until it sounds right to YOUR ear.
