NGD!

I've never been a Fender guy, always more into Gibson designs. I took my Epiphone Explorer to my tech and he showed me a strat he sells. So far the Epiphone I have is the best playing, feeling and sounding guitar I've ever owned (I owned Gibsons before) but this one tops it, and even though I play metal (and it doesn't look like metal) it outperforms anything I've seen so far. It's a 2007 Fender Stratocaster, made in the US. Incredible guitar. Very nice thin nitro finish in sonic blue (I really like when guitars wear) and amazing feeling neck. Jumbo frets (to my surprise) and the pickups sound so damn good, very articulate and clear even with high gain - and those are stock  The electronics work incredibly well, the volume has a lot of impact and I like the special tone circuit it has, I believe its a highway one model. I paid a very good price for it since my tech and I are buddies. Sold one of my Epiphone explorers and kept the good explorer, never looking back. I feel like this could finally be the guitar for a lifetime after those years of constant selling and buying and trading.

Just learned to play "any means necessary" by hammerfall on it. I remember that I watched this exact video below the day it came out, it was the first metal band I got into when I was around 11 years old, which is 10 years ago now. I will call the guitar hector, just like the mascot of HF. And I will see HammerFall live on stage tonight! so stoked. Life is good.

Here's some pics of it, my #1 now for sure:

Re: NGD!

Awesome. I also have a 2007 US Strat (one of the special-run mahogany models they made for Guitar Center,) good year :)

Re: NGD!

A Strat doesn't look metal? Better alert all those metal players from Ritchie Blackmore and Dave Murray right up to Weenie Marmsteen.... I DARE YOU to tell those guys to get pointy guitars, or start playing jazz.

Re: NGD!

If you're happy then I'm happy for ya man!

As for the Strat isn't metal enough, are ya serious?

Strats are plenty metal, just ask Iron Maiden, Helloween (Grapow-era) and a bunch of other cool dudes.

Plus, Supertrats might be pointier but they still have "strat" as part of their names :)

Re: NGD!

Doesn't matter WHAT it is, if it feels and sounds right to you then it is The One. Enjoy it!

I grew up with Maiden and Priest, both of which had a Strat player in them, so it looks plenty metal to me! (And 20 years from now it will still be cool. Time flies, trust me.)
