OK So Day After photos - '94 IC-500, shipped from the factory 12/8/94 according to the warranty card.
So it is an excellent guitar as I expected it to be. It got to me pretty filthy which I was expecting, lots of adhesive left over from stickers that were on the guitar, most of that came off pretty easily. There was also what I hope to God was fake blood over a lot of the guitar, it was a ***** to clean off so I am assuming it was fake and don't try to convince me otherwise thanks. Came from someone who I imagine was in a Death Metal band so.....the case is immaculate so go figure?
Well anyway mahogany body (2 piece), looks like a maple neck from what I can tell from the neck adjustment opening. Frets are near flawless, the neck is wide and flat like most MIJ of the 90's but it has some meat to it so I can live it no problem. It's hard to tell from the pics but all the white trim is pearloid, the binding is spectacular. The hardware is first class, bridge locks down 7 ways to Sunday, all done in a black chrome, original rubber grip speed knobs (I really like them too). The pickups are very good and will hopefully suffice, no markings on them but they appear to be original. The neck pup reminds me of an SD Jazz, I can't really tell from the bridge yet. I need to get it dialed in a little better first but it has the right vibe.
Tonight I did a quick setup and threw some 10's on, it felt really stiff with the 11's that were on it and it is a lot of fun to play. The Iceman is a very comfortable guitar sitting or standing. The only things I really need to do are put the Schaller Straplock pins on it, fixe 2 fret edges that are a little sharp and then give it a good buffing with some 3M Surface prep and a little wax to clean up the light scratches on it.
The pickguard is only on for the pics I am thinking, not much on guards.
