Nice deal on a cabinet today.

Got a pretty old Hughes and Kettner Triamp cab today. It's pretty road worn, which is fine because I don't have to worry about scratching it up, and it was loaded with "made in England" stamped Greenbacks. $250. I pulled the Greenbacks and installed a V30, G12H30, WGS Reaper 55 and Green Beret. I've had the Celestions for about eight years so they're nice and broken in, but I can hear the WGS speakers need some break in time. The cabinet sounds fantastic, and I can only imagine that when the Warehouse speakers break in, it will only get sweeter. I tried it with the Greenbacks, but the tone was too "boxy" if you catch my drift. These speakers really have a more 3D type sound. I use an old Univox 60 watt bass head with a Vox Tonelab LE, so my setup probably just doesn't like Greenbacks, lol. When I had them with my old Marshall, they sounded killer. Anyway, Great deal and I figure when I trade off or sell the speakers, I'll actually make money. Here's hoping.

Sounds like a good find man. I'm in the market for cabinets myself. Need a 2x12 I can take to rehearsal.

Yeesh... that cab was just a hop, skip, and a jump from me, and had my fave speakers.

Nice score.

That is a great cab and it will clean up easy, if that is what you want to do. I picked up a beat to crap Marshall for short money. I glued down the loose vinyl and sealed the cracks with a vinyl repair kit I got online for $20. Then I sprayed it with vinyl refinish spray from AutoZone and the thing looks brand new again.

Thanks guys. I actually have another one of these in pristine condition. I liked that this one is beat up so I can just sling it around and not have to worry about bumps and bruises. What a PITA to remove and mount the speakers though! The top triange with the Hughes and Kettner logo is one piece, then the metal grill is another, then you have to pull the whole baffle because the mounting bolts...allen cap...are screwed in from behind. Built like a brick you know what house once its all back together though.
