Re: Nice looking Jimmie Vaughn Strat

The white one looks sweet. $349 would be a good price, too. I like white on the JV Strat.

The other one I'm a bit skeptical, but if he's patient he might get that money. If someone wants to pay for him to run steelwool over the finnish. :smack:

Thanks Lew

Re: Nice looking Jimmie Vaughn Strat

Lew, are 22 and 21 fret Fender necks 100% compatible to change?
I mean, could I take a Jimmy Vaughan neck and put it directly on an Am Std body with no gap or height differences? I really like those necks, but I'd like to put one on a strat I have with a lame neck, do the swap, and sell the JV guitar with an Am Std neck. My method is a lot cheaper than buying parts. Sometimes, I upgrade my strats, AND get paid to do it.

Re: Nice looking Jimmie Vaughn Strat

I got my JV Strat in Oly white, it seems like the perfect color for this guitar. I added the aged accessory kit, finished it right off as far as I'm concerned :D

The 22nd fret is part of a fingerboard extention on my Strat with 22 frets and it extends over the wood between the neck pocket cutout and the neck pickup. So I would think if the heel is the same size that you could interchange a 21 and 22 fret neck. I like having 22 frets! Lew

My Gosh! It went for $349!!! That's so cheap for such a nice guitar. That one might've been basswood. The newest ones are alder I believe. Nothing wrong with Basswood...it sounds great in a Strat. Satriani uses Basswood for some of his guitars too. Lew

Re: Nice looking Jimmie Vaughn Strat

I like the JV neck too, but I thought the body was basswood?

Re: Nice looking Jimmie Vaughn Strat

Yeah my buddy's JV is Basswood. Sounds killer. In no way a second rate tonewood...at least not in Strat style guitars. Lew

Re: Nice looking Jimmie Vaughn Strat

The body on my JV is alder. Fender's been using alder on the MIM guitars for a couple of years now, even though the sticker on the pickguard says poplar. This was confirmed by Fender officials over on the FDP.

Nice looking Strat! I wish I had one like that...oh wait! I do!

Mines not a JV, it's MIJ 50s RI. Great for playing the blues. Especially if you like you're guitar to scream like it's on fire.

This one is Basswood.

Nice. I've heard of people putting the volume and tone dials and the plastic thing on top of the switch into dark coffee for a few hours to give it the Vintage look. I think your kit is a better idea. Looks good.
