Nickel or open coil C-5/59 for LP Classic?

Hi guys!

I have an LP Classic and want to get a C-5/59 set but can't decide on black or nickel covers. It is a natural plain flame with an upgraded finish if that makes sense. Anyway, it is on the light side and can't decide what would look better. I also was going to grab a used C-5 in black open coil till I can decide of it will stay in this LP.

I'm partial to covers on most Gibsons. It depends on the vibe you are going for- classy or down and dirty rocker.

I always like the open look, no matter what guitar. The only thing I'd consider is black or white depending on the guitar, but other than that I just like the look of open pickups, even if it's a really classy guitar.

I don't know why, but I dig the look of covers on Gibsons...I don't hate the look of exposed coils, but covers just fit the look to me. Probably because I've seen 50 million LPs, 175s, 335s, etc. with covers on them!

i agree with this, if i ever get a sunburst LP im going for that look plus i prefer the slight diference in tone for the bridge with no cover.. and id get it cream or zebra

I don't have any pictures hosted yet but I could email someone. It is a sunburst plain top. I am thinking black bridge and nickel neck! Cool guys!

I also tend to like covers on all guitars including my PRS.

Open coil all the way. If your guitar is the same color that the one in the link, than zebra would be a nice idea.

I agree. The zebra look is pretty sweet and I like the sound of the 59n better without a cover.

Not crazy about zebras in a Paul unless it is a darkburst or black. I like covers or black pickups in lighter colored Pauls. I think I'll go black open coils or covered.

I have a blackburst Mccarty that may get covers or zebras so that will play into it. Haha.

agreed zebras look good on dark coloured guitars and black does look good on light coloured guitars but i reckon zebra looks good on some light guitars like cherry sunburst.
Covers look good on translucent blue (nickel covers that is)
