NMD!

Well, I'm finally rounding up some recording gear to put together a post-rock demo over the next few months. I'd been trying to decide if I wanted to get an SM57 or e609 first, when I found this guy used at a local shop. Now I just need my interface to land and I can start tracking some ideas!

Re: NMD!

That's not really the implication of the name, but Google is your friend :)

I use a 609 live every week, and have heard that the 906 is better. So, I'm definitely looking forward to giving it a listen.

Re: NMD!

It's a great mic. People need to stop saying post-rock, tho.

How do you define that genre? At least if you say post-rock someone might have an idea. Then again most people that play this style don't like being categorized (including the band I most associate with the style, Mogwai)

Re: NMD!

I haven't used an e906, but the e609 is a cool microphone! I like the way it sounds with high gain. What interface did you order? I used the e609 with an M-Audio Delta 1010LT and got great results.

Have fun with recording! It is a whole other realm of music that I am still trying to understand fully.

Re: NMD!

So far so good, I'm using it with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 into Reaper. Here's a little glimpse at what I'm doing, but realize that this is a *very* raw clip.

Anyways, this is tele -> 65 Amps Memphis -> Avatar 2x12 (G12H30 is mic'd). I can talk about the effects if anyone's curious.

That clip sounds great! I love the tones you are getting and that ambiance sounds amazing. I love my Focusrite interface, though it isn't the Scarlet, it is the Saffire 6 USB. What all did you use for effects? What Tele pickups are using?

That really sounds great to me! Nicely done sir!!!

Thanks for the kind words. The tele I used has Klein pickups, his '52 set. It's also got a Bigsby & Mastery bridge. Effects were a DD-20 for delay, Strymon Flint for reverb, and EQD Dispatch Master for more reverb and mojo :D. The overdrive for the slide part is a Mojo Hand Rook.
