No "smothering" at all. In fact the bridge is very bright and lively. The neck is very warm and smooth but still has a brightness to the treble and articulate.

Absolutely astounding, Doc… You’ve outdone yourself! The detail and range of color are awesome!
I agree that the Dream 90 is a fun and spanky p’up. What do you think of that Vintage 59 in the neck? I’ve never tried one.

It's a little overwound for what I was initially after, but it actually sounds pretty good. I had to do a lot of playing around with the height and probably will do a little more til I get it right.

I do spray nitro, but the last half dozen guitars have been poly. There are advantages and disadvantages to either. I think the nitro is actually a lot easier to use and finish, but the poly is so much more durable.
I don't agree that the finish makes a difference on the tone of an electric guitar, but perhaps it does on an acoustic. So I use whatever the wood of the guitar needs to get the finish I'm after...I can get a higher gloss with nitro but poly builds better, shrinks less, and like I said, is more durable.
I've got a couple more builds in the works right now. One of them will probably be finished in a thin lacquer to allow the grain and natural appearance of the exotic woods to show through better. The other will be solid black on the back and the front wings, with Wenge, Padauk, and Ash down the center and will be finished in poly.

Poly does not smother tone or any such thing, and you're right about durability. I like nitro on certain guitars, especially on vintage types like LP's and Strats. I get the advantages of poly and you certainly know which builds need which finish.

I just wanted to say one last thing to you guys...I greatly appreciate your comments. I am truly humbled by your kindness and words of praise for my work. I put a lot of thought and effort and a lot of myself into every one of my builds and they are like my babies. I build them to look and to play as good or better than any guitar on the market because I basically build them for myself.
Lately (the past couple years) so many people have asked to buy my guitars but I have turned them all down because it has been impossible for me to part with them. But it's getting to the point where not only am I running out of room to keep them, but I feel bad that they are not getting played as they should be. After all, I DID build them to be players. So...I guess one of these days, very soon, I'm going to have to face the inevitable and start getting rid of my children.
Anyway, thanks to all of you...except Jerry............................just kidding!. (Besides if you play metal all you need is a 2x6 with strings on it, an overwound pup (to 20k) with a triple thick ceramic magnet, three distortion pedals in series, and a couple 100 watt Marshalls with 8, 4x12 cabs).

Nice comeback!
It is a really sharp build. Great attention to detail and really original. Doesn't look like anything else but also doesn't look weird. That's a hard balance to achieve.

Dave, I just noticed you're in Joplin. My grandparents and great grandparents retired in El Dorado Springs (east of Nevada) and my Dad is in the process of moving from El Dorado down here to San Antonio. I love southern Missouri.....the hills and woods, oh the beautiful trees and country side. A lot of my family history is in southern Missouri.

Small country! I bought my `53 Chevy as a field car from a guy just outside El Dorado Springs. Moved here from Akron, Ohio 20 years ago. Still can't take the late August/early September heat but otherwise it is awfully nice.

Oh my gosh the heat/humidity is awful during the summer there..... all you want to do is stay inside where the A/C is. I feel your pain my friend!
