Re: Nnnnoooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i wanna try one of those but i've sort of got the feeling from alot of the rm owners that the amp is not all that, but just fun for a bit to try all the models out, seems like after they try a bunch of the models they sell em.

Re: Nnnnoooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the thing is auctions are a dread when their end time is like 3-4am .. and you lost after the last min to someone else

Re: Nnnnoooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or when your at work and can't get to a computer. I've actually taken long lunch breaks to win some bids :27:

I've got an RM100 with the Clean, XTC, and 1086 modules - its "all that". The only negative of this amp is that it doesn't have an effective noise gate circuit (I assume because of the multitude of pre amps with different gain structures), so it gets a bit of hiss at high volumes. Mine blew a power amp tube and I didn't even know it (I am guessing it blew a few weeks prior). Sweet amp tonewise, and possibly the best gigging amp out there. Very heavy (weight), very well made, and you can pick from so many pre-amps that it can evolve with your changing tastes. The midi switching is pretty cool too, automatically switches the effect processor through programs 1 to 3 to corresponding with amp channel. I can't anything but good about it.

Re: Nnnnoooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey binnerscot, can you tell me more about this amp. I want the one that you have except for the 1086, instead I want a Recto.

Re: Nnnnoooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a Recto module when I first bought the amp, though many like it, I thought it was a bit mushy in the low end and a bit undefined in the high end. The Recto module was re-designed and is now called the Tread Plate module. I haven't heard the new one. The 1086 is possibly the best high gain pre-amp they make (it has a gain boost switch and a mid shift switch), its pretty flexible and sounds closer to a real Recto than the first Recto modules.
The Clean is good for all my purposes, I would like to try out a Blackface, I have read that is one of the best clean sounds they make for this amp.
Over all, the RM100 is one bad amp. If you want recto sounds - buy a Recto. The Randall will be a bit more flexible and just as high of quality. I have a Dual Rec and have A/B'ed them. They sound nothing alike (with the modules that I have), but both are excellent.

I feel bad for the guy that missed the auction - these amps are worth the street price.

Re: Nnnnoooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Binnerscot, What other modules have you tried? Have you tried the Brownsound? So far from the clips I like the Blackface,Brownsound and Treadplate. Might be a cool combo.

This is just what every GAS sufferer needs, an amp that switches pre amps like pups in a guitar....
