no bass room?

Re: no bass room?

Somebody just added the word Bass to the list describing the Guitar Shop.

Re: no bass room?

I know, maybe down the road.......they haven't put anything in stone.......yet
As much as I understand their decision,........i am still a little disappointed and bummed out.....

Re: no bass room?

Uh, last I heard, a bass IS a guitar. Back in the day, Guitar Player magazine routinely had bass players on the cover; Bill Wyman, Stanley Clarke, etc, plus, they'd feature bass players from various groups within the magazine.

Re: no bass room?

it would've made sense to get it cleared with the admins, THEN pick a name.

yes technically, but a bass is its own instrument in its own right IMO.

Re: no bass room?

There's no need for a bass room on here really. Honestly, look at how many (if any) people respond to threads about bass stuff. Hell, I asked a bass question 2 1/2 years ago and it got it's first reply just a few days ago.

This is true. The demand is just not there. There are really good bass forums online though (or so the bass player in my band tells me).

Even so, if a bass room was created, it would be a mild incentive to creating threads about bass guitars. I know I'd post in it all the time if it existed. Maybe the reason why we don't get too many bass threads, is because it's the GUITAR shop, which in itself draws attention to the electric guitars, in our minds.

Post as much as you'd like in the Guitar Shop about basses and bass stuff. I'd love for you to but, you're not going to get crap for responses. I would love nothing more than for you to prove me wrong. I'm a bass player myself, but I'm telling yall for the upteenth time that it will be a total deadzone. I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer either. I'm just speaking the truth.

You are correct, but they didn't have Bass Players mag yet, and it's primarily all about the six and 12 strings. And very few article came out about bass players back in the day.......:cool2:

Yeah I had hoped for the pressure thing or maybe possible seeing there was a big enough interst to change some minds.......i was wrong...for now....but I'm not giving in or giving up on the idea!:eyecrazy:

I must have been in Iraq when you posted that.....lol....cause I would have replied sooner lol!
My bad Jolly lol!:naughty:

Does SD make bass pups anyway?

hmmm yes quite a few actually!:scratchch

So I will concede that a bass is a guitar, but as a guitar is unique instrument so is a bass! I love the guitar room really I just want a place where bass player can just talk bass to other bass player that have the same thought and ideas and problems, thats it. Obviously right now is not a good time for that room, but I am far from giving up on the idea!

Re: no bass room?

Bass Medic, i think you're the only dude who posts on here all the time and is a 100% committed bassist

i play guitar...E-standard, open tunings, drop-tunings, baritone tunings, and bass tunings. i have different instruments specialized for each one of those and at least one of them is an actual bass guitar :smokin:

the way i see it...the Guitar Shop room is more than enough for the one committed bassist and the rest of us who also happen to own a bass.

there's gotta be a bassist-only forum out there on the net somewhere...we don't have to change this place to make one.

Re: no bass room?

We totally need a BASSment in this forum. I mean, Seymours home has a BASSment doesn't it?

btw are bad puns allowed in Seymours BASS...aww forget it!
