No Blackouts and EMGs?

I now plan to do something with an Epi LP Standard plustop.EMG 81-X neck and Blackouts Metal bridge, but the SD FAQ says this
'Seymour Duncan active pickups are also not compatible with EMG active pickups unless some type of phase inverter is used.'

really, my previous thread about this yields results that say all I need is the EMG solderless harness, but WHAT?
Do I really need one of those PI-2s? I want the PA-2 booster, so this is really QUITE

Some of the FAQ pages are long overdue for an update and/or clarification.

The incompatibility statement dates back to the first SD Live Wires series of active pickups. Those required an 18v supply at a time when the majority of EMG (and other brands') pickups would normally have been running on 9v.

Any wiring harness in the Quik Connect format will accept any 9v active pickup. Duncans will run on an EMG harness. EMGs will run on a Duncan harness. If the install includes an 18v double battery arrangement, that will work too BUT some pickups will not like it. e.g. Blackouts.

Mixing and matching of makes and models is perfectly straightforward. I have done this on several of my guitars. In my experience, the pre-amp of one famous brand emits more hiss than the other but, with extremely high gain amplification, who is going to notice?

The EMG PI-2 and PA-2 accessories are intended for sound altering applications. The former electrically reverses the phase of one pickup signal with respect to a second pickup. (Typcally, the result is that scratchy Smells Like Teen Spirit intro sound.) The latter is a level booster - the sort of thing that you would use for soloing over the band.
