NO REGERTS: My Online Guitar Purchase

I live in a rural area. I own an American Tele, Strat, and 2 SGs. The closest guitar shop is 50 miles away and they only stock Fender, Ibanez, Jackson, etc. No Gibson, No PRS.

So I wanted to find new mid range humbucking guitar online to practice at home on. $1500 budget, so i almost got a LP Studio but with all the weight relief was afraid the neck would dive bomb (already have this problem on my SGs)

I have personally had QC issues with ordering Gibsons and Fenders in the past so i went with a PRS s2 Custom 24 Whale Blue w/zebra pups, but now i'm getting a bit of cold feet (especially for the fact the damn thing only came with a GIG BAG!!!! 1500!!!)

Yes, i know i could just get a used PRS Custom or LP Standard for the same price, but i wanted something brand new.

TL;DNR: Question: Anyone out there have any experience/opinions on ordering PRS online and their quality control/consistency?

Re: NO REGERTS: My Online Guitar Purchase

Generally speaking PRS has excellent quality control, and I'd seriously consider buying one online. A retailer with a good return policy helps, but likely won't be needed.

Gibson OTOH is very inconsistent and I wouldn't buy one sight unseen unless I couldn't find it elsewhere and I was fully prepared to send it back

Re: NO REGERTS: My Online Guitar Purchase

Yeah, i ordered an SG Standard because i couldn't find one locally and got 2 in a row that the gap between the high E frets and the neck binding was so great that you could get the string caught in there. Why does Gibson not put the fret ends OVER THE BINDING anymore instead of having those "fake fret ends"?! Is there an advantage to that kind of binding on the neck?

Re: NO REGERTS: My Online Guitar Purchase

If i were you, i'd consider sweetwater. They have a big selection and try to inspect their inventory thoroughly.

I gotta play gram naz, or did you mean "regerts"

(not sure if you can fix titles on this forum, they vary) (DOH! I said "very" at first  )

Re: NO REGERTS: My Online Guitar Purchase

Forget New. I'm selling some PRS's, and as soon as I sort out picture hosting, I'll PM you with details.

Sounds like you already pulled the trigger, but if any of you are looking to buy gear, I'll be listing some great stuff in the Trader section.

I have, but if i have to send it back i will definitely be interested if you have some Custom 24s... or a Les Paul!

My PRS S2 Vela was bought locally from Groton Guitars, CT - but as luck would have it, I dropped by on the morning it was delivered, so got to inbox it. Great quality right out of the box.
