No-treble-loss-when-roll-down-vol.-mod?

Like Lew said, it really shouldn't. A "normal" tone control and the 50's mod are electrically identical when the volume control is on 10. There shouldn't be any difference.

When a potentiometer is at either end of its travel, its just a resistor with two lugs on one end.

...And that ... :laugh2:

Re: No-treble-loss-when-roll-down-vol.-mod?

I was trying to remember where I first saw the .001uf treble bleed mod. It was Tuck Andress on his L-5. I use it in my Washburn, works great. Does anyone have a differant or better treble bleed recommondation for humbuckers w/ 500k pots? TIA

And the originator of the thread answers his own question:laugh2:

I've tried .001, that was way to thin- almost like an out-of-phase tone. But 470pf made my LP sound close to a tele with my overdrive on and my volume knob rolled down to a clean, not bad. I don't like tele tone though, too bright for my taste. I'm now using a 100pf for this, it's pretty transparent, just right.

Re: No-treble-loss-when-roll-down-vol.-mod?

Hi, I have made some simulations regarding this issue and published the results here:

Treble loss with volume roll-off | Pro Guitar

I will do some more simulations with different setups and different treble bleed circuits to see what works when. It is a public project and it would be great if you could help to make more simulations on the different setups. Humbuckers vs single coil, 500k Volume pot vs 250k etcetera.

...or the entire thing was in series as resistor-cap-resistor.

One resistor with a value of sum of those two resistors would be exactly the same. And order of those components doesn't matter either.

Edit: Damn this is old... Anyway...

Wow. 12 years ago.

Well alot changes.

I no longer care for the 50's mod...just got tired of that sound.

I did leave the 180 pf. bright cap in three out of my four PRS guitars.

In the fourth I just disconnected the master tone pot from the neck pickup but left it on the bridge pickup. I like that a lot!
