Your just 30. "Probably " have a grounded plug installed? If the death cap goes open..unlikely , but possible, 450+ volts flows the path of least resistance, which is your arm , your heart, and down your other arm. Could kill you. I've survived a Pure Class A shock, 500 volts right through the heart, probably couldve killed me( guess i didnt have the other hand on the chassis) but I bet it shortened my life span and there is some necrotic tissue.
Anyhow, welcome to the divine secrets of the YA YA Brotherhood; I Love my Bassmate! Get the old dying filter caps replaced .

nice find.. I have a '66 YBA-1 which kills with my greenback cab and had a 70s Bass mate 1x15 combo EL84 that ripped aswell with pedals... Have fun with it and don't worry about reliability with that beast.. 15 watts right ?
Very nice. I have a 1971 YBA-1. It's the loudest amp I have. Volume on 3 starts to be painful, like my Hiwatt on 10. But sounds so good. I got into Traynor because I heard Eric Clapton play through a Traynor on "Live Peace in Toronto 1969" and it was the sweetest dark scream I've ever heard with a Les Paul.
