Nobels ODR-1 BC -> AC30

Hi there.
Anyone here has some experience with the Nobels ODR1(bc) together with a AC30(cc2 w/lyle cladwell mods + greenbacks) ?

i had the korea silver version 10years ago and liked it but i don’t know how the new green version sounds like(guess the same?). Anyone here using/used it with a AC30? What do you think?

i have my ac30 set the way so i get low/medium overdrive and good cleans when rolling down the volume of the guitar(normal channel). The nobels should boost the gain so i can get high gain sounds.

i’m curious what you think of this pedal together with a ac30.

The OD-1 (Green one) is apparently a Nashville staple OD. More popular than the TS9 or SD1. It has a different sound/vibe than either of those.

I can't imagine it wouldn't work as well as any OD pedal for that. Not a Vox guy, or Nobels guy, so can't really say.

Not sure exactly what sound you are going for...that a TS9 or SD1 wouldn't make either. What is it they DON'T do for you?
 
The Nobels pedal is a great pedal and has been around for a long time. It sits well in the mix and plays nice with most any amp you use it with. You will have no issues with using one on your AC-30. Using a Vox or a Nobels in the same sentence as what I would call High Gain is not going to happen. That amp or pedal will not take you anywhere near what I personally define as High Gain. That being said, you can get some nice push and help with the Nobels to take the amp further down the gain road it is already on so yes, you can get a "higher" gain amount. It seasons subtly and colors nicely. It will not completely take over and change your tone. I don't believe you are wanting that anyway, if so, then wrong pedal. Back to the point, a Vox AC-30 has a beautiful sound and the Nobels run with that will increase the gain of that sound and it is a beautiful sound with and without the pedal. I wouldn't think twice about putting those two together. :)
 
I’m sorry i mean higher gain. The play different stuff but the most higher gain songs are songs from queen, guns n roses, thin lizzy, zeppelin.

i want my ac30 to keep the settings i have now so i can still get nice cleanups. I have a line6 HX so i can control the nobels on the HX. I don’t want a pedal that’s changing my tone.. but i know the nobels is transparant.

note: the drives in the HX are good but not that great. I have the HX for delays etc and to make tap dancing easier for me ;)

I dig the HX's drives. They work for what I need...a not-too-driven TS-type of tone.
 
The drives are good as i said but i think i’m more of a analog drive pedal guy..

the tube drive is what i think the best i can use in the HX.

TS9 and SD1 are both variations on a theme - and that theme is upper-mid humpy goodness. The ODR1 is a little more flexible - less mid boost, but the spectrum knob lets you go from a kind of scooped sound to a lower mid-rangey thing and is a little less harsh at all settings.

I often find Voxes to be a little bright for my tastes, so think an ODR1 would be a great pairing with one.

A couple of other pedals to look into would be boss od3 and the truetone vsxo.
 
Great, super flexible pedal. One of the shortcomings the Nobels had (and why I ended up selling mine) was the amount of bass. It may come in handy for your application but I would get one of the new ones that has a bass cut setting.
