Nodded my Yamaha RGZ312 today

Before and after pics of my Yamaha RGZ312. I changed out the stock pickups with a set of DiMarzio Cruiser bridge pickups in the neck and middle and a DiMarzio Tone Zone in the bridge. Huge improvement in tone. I'll end up getting the electronics swapped out and some fret work done, but for now it's awesome.

I like the looks better after, and with the tonal improvement,
seems like a win/win to me. Enjoy.

Nodded? Did you listen to Mazzy Star while you worked on it?

BTW, looks great!

Thanks. I plan to have the volume and tone pots replaced along with the 5 way switch. I'm also thinking of getting it refretted with bigger frets. The frets on my Yamaha RGX-421D are fantastic, but I don't know what size they are.

It's a great guitar. I'll be glad when I can get it re-fretted. Wish I could afford to get SS frets on it.

I think it looks great too. Yamaha guitars are underrated as far as I'm concerned. I have a mid 80's HH Yamaha that I stripped down to bare wood and got rid of a very thick poly finish. I did a stain and a thin poly finish, and it sounds and plays wonderfully. Mine too is sidelined right now because of fret issues too. Just not sure its worth a regret, but I love it.

Congrats on yours, I really like it.
