I get what you mean, but that's the influence a band had on a kid in the 70s. And I agree with you that Ace Freely made more kids pick up guitars than arguably better guitarists ever did.
Oasis isn't even my favourite Brit Pop 90s band (that dubious honour goes to Pulp. "Common People" is the best song of the 90s by a wide margin. Convince me otherwise).
But Oasis was HUGE in their day. And they were a loud, guitar-driven band, which is sadly out of style these days. And they were a nice alternative to grunge, which was the other guitar-driven genre of the time. Oasis (and, in my memory, Weezer) were a loud, goofy counterpoint to the hair in the eyes, existential crisis rock of people like Nirvana.
Also, they weren't a particularly tight band, which should appeal to kiss fans!

Sometimes I wish I could spend a day in someone else's mind. To me, KISS is just a bunch of actors who made okay music that was largely carried by some of the best theatrics and pyrotechnics to ever appear on a stage as well as the ability to know their audience. But some people see them as quite a bit more than that.

KISS inspired a generation of kids to pick up guitars, giving birth to the NWOBHM and 80s metal trends in America. KISS was also responsible for introducing the world to VanHalen. Oasis inspired every man-bun-wearing d-bag to learn four chords and annoy us by playing Wonderwall at every party and backyard BBQ. Just because something or someone is influential doesn't mean it is a good thing. A few years back, influencers convinced people to eat Tide pods. For the record, I would rather eat a Tide pod than listen to Oasis.
Just to throw my hat in, I would argue neither band was all that influential as far as what they put on a record. Neither band had that many hits, they didn't invent any techniques or popularize any hardware, they each have at best 2 songs that still play on classic rock stations, they left no lasting cultural impacts, neither of them extended too far past their target audience, and neither of them ended up on Rolling Stones Top 100 Artists Of All Time (circa 2010). Kiss sounds like generic 80s glam metal and Oasis sounds like generic 90s pop rock. If the radios stopped playing both of them, you would never notice.

You may notice there are many many people who have done KISS covers, and in fact, an entire album (more if you count the Frehley tribute).
How many Oasis covers did KISS do? Or anyone....

Is it just me, or is the issue in this thread "Is Noel Gallagher worthy of an expensive sig guitar", or "are ridiculously expensive sig guitars stupid," or "I don't like Oasis?"
It seems to me the answer to the first question is, since they are making one, apparently yes;
The second one, to me is, yes these sorts of things (whoever the artist) are stupidly expensive, but I guess collectors like them; and
The third is, you like who you like. But I don't recall any Kiss reunion making the front page of the Guardian, so, who knows?

No - the KISS Reunion had a press conference, held by the #1 late night guy at the time, on an Aircraft Carrier, simulcast to 58 countries.

right but you werent a kid. when did you hear kiss and fall in love with that circus? i wasnt into oasis, but ive never really been into kiss either. too young for kiss, too old for oasis.

Bob and I are in the same age group. I was 4 when I first heard KISS and was instantly in to it. That was when Destroyer was the current record and Detroit Rock City and Beth were the hits. Still have that 45 on vinyl actually. In the 90's, I was in my 20's, playing guitar, and working. Had heard Champagne Supernova but really didn't care for it. I was still listening to metal, scoping out the Northern California music scene as well as digging more in to Blues.
