Noise Cancelling system for single coils

I just picked up a new, to me, Iby, plugged it in and it was super quite, which confused me. I would say this is quieter than my humbuckers. Strangely it's not very well advertised as being such. I did a web search and found they had noise cancelling coils. I took it apart and this is what they look like.

Anyone familiar with this type of setup? What are the pros and cons and why isn't it used more? Why doesn't anyone anyone sell this type of system, beyond needing a swimming pool route to install?

Dummy coils tend to reduce the output and dull the treble frequencies a bit. Unless it's an active system to isolate the coils.

But there have been some advances, such as using larger gauge wire on the dummy coils to reduce their resistance.

With the advent of the STK-x series, and Livewires, there's really no point. My STK-4 equipped Strat is noiseless, and true to form. Totally conventional wiring.
