Noiseless pups

What is your advice on the best single coil pups, for fender strat or tele or any style SC pup guitar. Singles are notorious for hum/buzz but with proper shielding there are pup manufacturers who make so called "noiseless" pups. Thanks for your input.

Re: Noiseless pups

I swear by Kinmans. I’ve also tried Fishman Fluence and thought they were reasonably good.

Re: Noiseless pups

I love the Classic Stacks. They are my favorite Strat pickups, noiseless or not. To me, they have everything I like in a Strat set.

Re: Noiseless pups

Are you looking for a traditional Strat/Tele sound? If so...

  • DiMarzio Area series are a proven design and very reasonably priced
  • Kinmans are wonderful, but pricey
  • Good reviews on the newer Mojotone noiseless pickups, though I haven't tried them myself.
  • Same with Zexcoils, they're on my bucket list. Lots of guys swear by them and the earlier designs seem to have more output than some of the other pickups mentioned here without losing "that" sound.
  • A LOT of players who hated the older Fender noiseless designs really dig the latest versions on Teles and Strats. Check out reviews on "Vintage Noiseless" and "Gen 4"
  • SD LiveWire Classic II's are probably still the best choice if you are considering actives with Fluence pickups being another great active option.

Re: Noiseless pups

Take a look at the Ilitch system too (dummy coil). Suhr uses something like that too.

Re: Noiseless pups

i have a few sets of duncan classic stack + and i like them a lot. they sound like good strat pups with no noise. ive tried a variety of noiseless strat pups over the years and theses are as good as any as far as im concerned
