Noisy Stack Plus

Hey everyone!

I just bought a used STK-S4 for the bridge and I still find it noisy. I'm using it with a pair of Texas special (neck and middle) and it sounds to me that the noise reduction is very low... I can get dead quiet on neck + middle position, thats what I was specting from this pickup.

I wired just like the prescription - black and ground on volume pot, white on 5-way switch and red tapped.

I also measured the resistance, and in different positions i can take 6.5k, 18.5k and 24k.... so I assume both coils are connected.

Is everything alright? Is it supposed to still have some noise?

Welcome to the forum!
I am sorry you are having issues with your Stack Plus..I love this pickup! Mine is dead silent, though. Are you saying that when selected alone, the Stack Plus is humming?

Exactly.... there’s still a hum when selected alone.... I guess my wiring is correct...

Yeah, black and ground to volume, white to switch, and red taped off. Could red be touching ground? If you post some pics of the wiring, we might be able to see something. Also, you can confirm the DCR by checking it if it isn't wired in, too.

Re: Noisy Stack Plus

can you take a good pic of the sticker on the bottom of the bridge pup? those dcr readings arent what you should get for a stks4b, at most it should be low 9k in series.

Re: Noisy Stack Plus

the sticker is right but those numbers are not... weird
