Had an odd one show up this afternoon. Client had a newish Strat, the neck pickup had no B string sound when strummed. Tapped on the B string magnet - it had no pull on the steel screwdriver tip. Pulled the pickguard, and flipped it over to find that the bottom of the B magnet had blue Dykem on it....

Client said cut it off and wire in a used Strat pickup he had on his shelf.... Anyone ever see this before?

Yeah, it's kinda nice to know what you're talking about...helps with communication.

To me, that looks like the "A" string magnet (maybe the photo is reversed?).

Do you work at Guitar Center?

OK, dunces. Look at the picture. The leads usually head towards the bridge - not the neck.... It's the B string pole with the blue end. I've only been doing this **** since 1977.

Strap this on..... Figure it out yet, dunces?

That’s the bottom of the pickup. So that’s the A string magnet.

Either way it’s clearly not a magnet. It probably got mixed in with the magnets in the box when the pickup was being made.

When I was working at DiMarzio I’d find the wrong screws and stuff in the box. Happens where the parts are made.
