noob wants to change tubes

I really want to change the tubes in my valve jr head because the sovtec's break up really harshly. the power tube is in plain sight but i dont see the 12ax7. is it hidden in the metal cylinder near the power tube? how do i get it out without breaking something?

Sounds like a tube cover...they are common. (Make sure the amp is off and unplugged) Push the cover gently (there is a spring inside) until it won't move any further then twist about 45 degress and then pull.
