North Coil slug?

Is the slug coil still the north coil in Duncan production pickups? I need to tame the top end on an ash Ibanez. I think converting the Custom into a Custom Custom is the best approach but I need to make sure I get the polarity right so I don't have to tear it apart 2 times

just match the magnet when you pull the old one out, but yes, slug coil is north

Yes, as Jeremy said, pull the magnet out half way. Bring the edge of the new magnet up against it so they attract each other. Lay the new magnet down on the table the same way. Pull the old magnet out the rest of the way, then insert the new one without changing its orientation.
