Hey guys,
Apologies if this has been covered but I've spent a day or so searching through threads and can't seem to find one with the exact combo of problems I'm experiencing.
I have a set of Whole Lotta Humbuckers (SH18s) that are giving me some weird results:
1) I'm getting a signal bleed across the pickups. I.e. Select the neck pickup, wind it all the way down and you can hear output from the bridge if it's still turned up and vice-versa. This stops when the respective pickup is turned to 0.
2) There is a crazy amount of earth hum with the pickups turned down. Volume 0, mad buzz. Pickups cranked, next to none. This is particularly frustrating :wrf:
Guitar is a 2012 LP Trad with the grounding plate installed.
I initially had it wired up with the 4 push/pull pot setup (Jimmy Page config as per SD's wiring diagram). Had a tech replace what he thought was a dodgy pot, no fix. Have since swapped all four pots back to standard and wired as per SD's standard diagram for an LP setup. Still happening. I feel like I'm missing a trick, but two techs have had it twice each and we're all out of ideas.
Other attempts to fix:
Swapped pickups back to original - same problem.
Pickups connected directly to jack - both fine.
Bridge ground wire is connected.
Have tried different amps, power circuits.
Hopefully someone here can help? Can provide photos if they're deemed useful.
Alex
