Not another fuzz thread..

Re: Not another fuzz thread..

I'm not sure if it's the tone you're looking for, but I like the Visual Sound Angry Fuzz.

The solo in this tune has it:

I set all three knobs around 10 to 11 o'clock, bright switch off.

I use the visual sound angry fuzz too ... great fuzz sound and even better octave up fuzz...

It's not broken, don't fix it.

Stop worrying boutique tone snob BS and get the original. Jimi and Santana didn't mind.. neither did Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Nirvana...

agreed. I'm actually thinking of picking up a little big muff on pay day. Its a start. I'm already addicted using the fuzz pi on the pod xt. Good to finally has variation in my music.

I had a little big muff... sounded better than my Wren and Cuff to be honest.... Have fun with it, its dirt cheap and awesome!

Re: Not another fuzz thread..

Sweet. I've seen a lot of people who prefer the LBM. I had a EH little stone phaser that was probably best one I've used. I can't believe I traded it

Re: Not another fuzz thread..

Honestly, if you're going to a store that has a Little Big Muff, you at least owe it to yourself to try the Bass Big Muff. And as for what Astro said about people like Santana and J Mascis using the original... well yeah, they all use the superior vintage units. I had a NYC big muff and it was terrible.

Sanford, that's an awesome fuzz tone - and some cool use of effects in general.

A few years ago, I bought a Keeley Fuzz Head, and the VS Angry Fuzz was sitting there. Now I wish I got the Visual Sound instead.

Re: Not another fuzz thread..

I'm sure I'll try every fuzz there now. Any decent guitar store is an hour away so I take my time when I get there. I've never been much of a pedal guy but as my tastes mature I'll need to start collecting

Re: Not another fuzz thread..

Thanks! I'm quite happy with the sounds I get these days, even with my counter-intuitive rig (solid-state bass amp, lots of pedals...go figure).
The flanger is a TC Electronic Vortex, the wah is a Morley Bad Horsie (first version). After the first pass of the tune I felt it sounded a bit thin so I kicked in the MojoMojo set for clean boost (overdrive near off, level near max, bass flat and treble just past noon). During the show everything sounded fine, but apparently the video mic gets a little weird during the wah wah section.

Re: Not another fuzz thread..

Awesome! I actually do the same: solid state bass amp + lots of pedals.

Re: Not another fuzz thread..

Not wanting to derail this thred, but has anyone tested/tried/owned the Retro Channel Fuzz ?

UToob clips sounds nice . . . but how is it in "real life" ?
