Re: "Not in my studio!" / "I want this sound."

You know DSS that clean sound could be probably usefull to lend some definition to really distorted tracks though if it was mixed right. The only person I have heard of that goes direct to the board with a clean signal was Alex Lifeson. Interesting stuff!

Honestly, I think it'd ruin the mix... I layer clean guitars over my distorted stuff, and it's just a DI'd bridge pickup, but I use that for textures and for a piano like tone out of my guitar - not for the main tone.

Actually it can be pretty cool when doing some hocklines with clean guitar:)

I'm amazed that the douche still bothers posting that stupid crap.
Are you pissed because someone told you to turn your gain down?

Interesting thread, a lot of arguing going on.

When my band went to a producer guy we stayed at his house where he had a pretty decent studio, he encouraged me to use his software plugins, that they sound awesome, i denied and wanted to use my amp (Peavey 5150), though it was at in inconvenience to him the actual recording sounded awesome for very little more fuss..

Some interesting choices on the bad and good guitar tones in page one..

LOL I love how you let it get to you so badly. You're only like 7 years older than me, too.

Re: "Not in my studio!" / "I want this sound."

In 2002, I did some studio work and had to do exactly what the engineer was paying for. SInce I was on their payroll, that is exactly what I did.

I had paid to transport a lot of my own gear overseas and most of it stayed at the rented flat.

Later, we had a jam session with some of the musicians and everyone agreed that I had much better sound/tone using my gear.
