I've only ever played and moved 2x12 cabs and combos (and smaller) and I have a slight desire to upgrade amps. I was thinking about a 4x12 in passing then thought (beside the ridiculousness of playing one nowadays) how do you physically move it to rehearsal and gigs? I mean, you need a minivan right? And they weigh in at 100lbs with slightly awkwardly placed handles... I could see 25 year old me muscling it around but maybe not 37 year old me...


So in all seriousness, how do you move one with out roadies and a tour van?

Don't! I thought my first half-stack sounded glorious until I played a couple shows with it. Upstairs practice space, bars with stairs and raised stages, and of course they only mic one speaker.
Bought a nice, compact 2x12 with castors very quickly, sold the 4x12, and have never regretted it. That was when I was maybe 21. I'm 50 now and still have that 2x12 cabinet.

Hard to beat a 212, or even a pair with complimentary speaker-models for those times of excess.
They're just so much easier to move and haul.

Oh yeah! And although it was fun making the walls shake with the 4x12, the same speakers sounded warmer and more full in the 2x12.
And like you said, you can always use two if the urge strikes. One more trip to & from the car, but SO much less weight and bulk on each trip.

I used to gig with my Mini Clubman and my 412 fit like a glove

I kind of got tired of moving my 412 and got a 410 for gigging, still have my slant 412MS cab I use it for rehearsal. It's parked there like a permanent camper lol

I don't gig or do the band thing anymore.
Back in my early 20s my H&K 412 slid right into the trunk of my 1999 Tercel.
Would often have a friend/bandmate grab a handle and help carry it to and from.

Fast forward to today...
My Trad. sized Mesa 412 stays at home.
I have another 412 cab in my garage and jam room too. They go nowhere.

The past few ice fishing seasons have been tough on my body regarding lifting with hernias developing because of the amount of lifting I do from Dec-Apr.

So, no more roadie work for me. Which I'm more than fine with.

I put one in the back seat of my Honda Civic this afternoon. When I bought it, I put it in the trunk.

As for the rest of the lugging, casters or a hand cart
