I just completed the wiring and diagnostic tests for the Champ clone kit I've been working on. Specs include an upgrade to 10 watts, master volume and tone added on.
I hesistantly plugged into it and played for around 10 minutes and am shocked at how it good it sounds. All the controls work with a smooth response and there's very little hum even when cranked up all the way.
I'm not sure if this is what the original Champ sounded like since I've never played one, but it's a pretty solid Fenderesque tone.
I'll post pics after I build the cabinet...that's next weekend's project.
