Not sure if I ever shared this guitar here.....

I got it immediately upon its release last year. Fender let some local music shops have them a week before all the huge corporate retailers got them. My favorite local shop was one of them, and their price was the same as G.C.'s. I went in the day after they got it, and I loved it, so I jumped. Here is a phone pic, which I think is the first pic I've taken of this guitar.

For the same price as a Standard, it was kind of a no brainer for me.

It'll soon be getting its first mods. I think I'm going to a brushed aluminum pickguard and a covered Suhr SSH that my bandmate just gave me out of the blue. Possibly a white guard too, or white textured aluminum.

The black paisley finish is cool as hell. That's a great looking Strat.

Would be cooler with a matching headstock and ebony board but still nice.

I thought the same when I first saw it, but I changed my mind. I've got this Aerodyne Tele that has that black on black on black look with a slight bit of trim. It's cool, but too much at times. I think what this paisley guitar really needs is a more "vintage" looking pickguard, knobs, etc., as opposed to going to full-on blackout route. I've looked into metal guards and nitro guards, but they're both pretty pricey. So to start, I'm gonna try parchment plastic all the way around, and a covered humbucker. That'll be a relatively cheap experiment, and will certainly look better.

Here is the Aerodyne (I need to re-dye the fingerboard):

I'm debating bridge options at the moment. I really want to Kahlerize it, but I don't know if I can get myself to cut into it... Bladerunner sucks, Callaham is too expensive for a vintage design. Floyd also requires routing...

I was thinking a paisley headstock, but yeah, full black is too much (I know whereof I speak!).

The Tele looks good, binding makes quite a difference.

Wow, that's a great looking Start and aesthetically I wouldn't change a thing!

Re: Not sure if I ever shared this guitar here.....

I like the black pick guard myself. I think it looks a bit more classier with it than a white or parchment guard. You can still put the cover on the humbucker which would dress it up even more. BTW, nice looking guitar.;)

I usually hate paisley'd guitars, but damn, that trans blackburst job looks snazzy with the paisley design!

Same here. I didn't like any paisley guitars until I saw this one.

I ordered my first mods today. Got a parchment guard, knobs, etc., and out of curiosity, two Di'Marzios for the neck and middle positions: an SDS-1 for the neck and a True Velvet neck for the middle. (Both are normal wind/normal polarity, so I can also switch them around later if I want.) The bridge pickup will be a chrome covered Suhr SSH, and I'm thinking of wiring it normally split. If that's still too hot, I'll put in my Seth bridge pickup instead. I'll also be adding a neck pickup on switch and going to 500K pots. Eventually, I'll get a better vibrato, but I think I might block it for now. The MIM vibrato is horrid.

See what it looks like with the black pickguard with the parchment plastics and covered humbucker. A worthy experiment.

Curious what is wrong with the Bladerunner. I haven't tried one myself but haven't heard much negative about it either.

I wrote a whole big review panning the Bladerunner some months back. I don't want to be overly negative by re-posting it, but I am sure you can find it via search.

Found it. Nice review and honest. I've been curious about it.

When I made my partsocaster last year, it has a MIM body, I went with the GFS MIM trem with steel block and then put Gotoh saddles on it from Mojotone. The saddle change really improved the tone. I use it blocked down so don't really know how stable it is but at the same time, a well cut nut and solid tuners can go a long way there with many trems.
