Not sure what pick ups to get

So I have a Dean strat and I want to upgrade the pick ups. I'm not really sure what to go with.

I find it hard to really determine the qualities of a pick ups through samples that are run through FX and what not.

I thinking maybe a Van Halen type hum bucker, but then again maybe I want more of a Satch dimarzio deal.

I know very little about neck pick ups, but it's a single coil, so I'm wondering how a nice blues pick up would suit me.

I never use the middle single coil and I already pulled it out. I never really used the middle single coil but I'm wondering if I should put it back in or what. I don't really want a hole in my guitar.

I was also wondering if I could get my hum bucker wired to the selector switch so that it only uses 1 coil like a Fender Strat.

I apologize for such a vague post but maybe you guys could pull me in a direction or two.

Van Halen? maybe a Norton from Dimarzio or Custom Custom from Duncan. Satch? get a Fred from Dimarzio.

As for the middle single coil you might as well get one if you ever want quack because its stupid taking it out. If you dont use it then keep it in and dont use it because if you want to one day you can just flick a switch amd use it compared to having to install it.

For single coils Ill let someone more experienced chime in.

So do we. You never know for sure until a PU's in your guitar, thru your amp. Some surprises are pleasant, some aren't.

I never used to use the middle pickup either till I learned how to balance my pickups really good.Now I realize the middle pickup is kinna a great blues funky position.

SSL-5 for the neck and a Custom Custom for the bridge. Get a three way blade selector and a push pull pot of the tone knob to split the bucker. you should be good to go.

Do you know what wood the guitar is made out of?

For the middle single coil, just get a Strat pickup cover and mount it in there. No hole, no magnet pull from a pickup you don't use.
