Not the incoming NAD I was expecting.

I'm visiting home for the first time in almost two years and while I was making my rounds of the local music shops I happened to come across an amp that I have been eying for a few years as something I'd like to own; a Fender Super Sonic Twin.

My preference is for a big clean amp and a smaller less clean amp. I had been planning on buying a 41st Amps Bayonet (a 20 watt, 1x12 6v6 tweedish amp). They run about a grand, so that was my budget. The Super Sonic Twin w/ a flight case.... A grand.

I went back today and put it on layaway. I'm really happy with this purchase, the Twin side will be great for pedal steel, and after playing with the burn channel, I got some nice clean to almost clean sounds. That combo will make it a great amp to double steel and 6 string in my country band.

And maybe best of all, it used to belong to forum bro Red Label. Thanks bro!

Nice amp. There is a lot of Fender mojo going on here today.

Re: Not the incoming NAD I was expecting.

Indeed! I'm kicking around the idea of putting Jupiter speakers in there for a bit better pedal steel sound, but I figure I should wait until I get the thing home and see how it handles my steel before thinking about that kind of thing.

Re: Not the incoming NAD I was expecting.

I was playing metal with mine so I loaded it with Celestion Seventy 80s it sounds amazing. Not everyone's favorite speaker but they sound awesome for hard rock and metal. Plus I have plenty of headroom for my cleans.

There's just something about a Fender Twin. Nice score.

Cool amp. There's a good chance that any amp bought in Montana was once owned by Red Label! :fingersx:

When the owner of the shop told me he knew the guy who owned it, I had a feeling it was Red Label. I knew he had owned one at some point, had just bought that Splawn and the he knew the owner of that particular shop.

Congratulations Matt! It's a great amp. I'll miss her, but she just wasn't getting the attention that she deserved. I'm likely headed for a lumbar fusion at L5-S1, so there was NO way I wanted any part of hauling that beast around any more! I made it easier for you with that custom SafeCase though! ;)

Btw... I was using my Bogner Blue and Red pedals through the Twin clean channel and I basically had my old XTC Classic in that setup there. The tones and feel were dead-on!

good luck with the fusion bro! Years ago, I lusted for a Charvel fusion, the man upstairs misread my thoughts and gave me a spinal fusion.. haha I had 3 levels done a few years ago. 2 didnt heal so they went in the next year and redid those and took most of the hardware out.. Hope yours goes flawlessly!!

Thanks man! I had a microdiscechtomy four years ago (after slipping my disk) and have been in pain ever since. But I just can't live this way any more. Have tried PT, massage, exercise, etc and no resolution. I've had four epidurals since last June, with little help. This last one seems to have really irritated something bad. I've been on prednisone for the past week, and still I'm in a lot of pain. I go in to see my neurosurgeon in a week and I'm pretty sure that we'll be scheduling a current MRI and then the fusion. Good times...
