I hate the PRS dial thing

I've never tried one, but was considering it for a Tele Deluxe project. In what way(s) does it displease you?

The JB/Jazz OR JB/59 work well. The 59 is fat and classic, but some people want a neck that is open and articulate and the Jazz is that. It is sweet even in high gain and sounds very harmonically rich. In that regard the JB matches well, both have a lot of nice highs, and the JB is the quintessential rock pup. They EQ very well together and allow a LOT of versatility.

Also consider the JB/A2pro. Heard it in the Moore guitars and liked it!

I think the JB/AIIpro would be (or most def Jazz) are better paired than the JB/59...the problem I've had with the JB/59 combo..at least in Gibson instruments.. is the widely varying EQ. It's quite difficult to EQ the amp correctly and get a decent sound out of both pickups...either the 59 gets too boomy trying to fatten up the JB, or the JB gets way too thin and harsh when trying to keep the 59 under control.

Re: Not to be Blasphemous JB/Jazz

After using my JB/APII combo for about 2 years, i think i'm gonna try a Jazz in the neck. I LOVE the Alnico II pro, but lately i've been wanting something with a slightly more scooped sound... additionally, i've found that the alnico II is a bit weak when split.

Anyway, yes the JB and APII is awesome in Moores.

I wouldn't even think about splitting a Jazz or Alnico II Pro. Of course the output is going to be week, it's between 3-4k. Now splitting the Custom, or Custom Custom, or even the JB makes more sense. The split will make it somewhere between 7-8k, much stronger, a little more than vintage single coils.

I found the Jazz to be too bright for my tastes. Of course, I had it in a Agile 2000...which is Mahogany with a maple neck and very thin maple cap...so that may have had something to do with it. Also, I was using it through a V-Amp Pro, which is not the warmest of all setups. I did like it for all out distortion though..because it sliced with a ton of gain. I just didn't dig it for cleans...which is funny.
