Not Your Daddy's Guitar

Re: Not Your Daddy's Guitar

Just think what it would take to wear a hole in it like Willie's.

I dig that! Unique and sounds great. Just my kinda thing.

Re: Not Your Daddy's Guitar

That does sound really, really good. I want one. However , I get the impression she could make a $20 hello kitty wal mart guitar sound good, so there's that.

Pretty cool. I played a carbon fiber acoustic on stage (it was back line gear provided) last year.

-here's the deal (IMO)

While for solid body guitars synthetic materials are mostly inconsequential, on an acoustic instrument the carbon fiber and composite material do sound different of course -enough to where I wouldn't use one in the studio generally but it's not to say they wouldn't have their place in the studio

-BUT most people who buy these instruments are performing with them using embedded piezo pickups and plugged sound holes -because live you don't want all the low end in a band mix anyways -you want the attack, the strings rattle, the harmonics and just some of the mids/lows vibrating in the guitar top piece -so these heavy duty space age guitars become pretty damn cool touring instruments -rugged, bulletproof intonation drifting from altitude, weather and travel and they look different.

...and they sound good onstage of course.

Carbon fiber instead of truss rod in the Vigier? Is she sure about that?

Vigier uses what Patrice calls a 90/10 neck. 90% wood, 10% carbon fiber truss. Lots of killer players have been touring with them for years, never heard them mention that the necks have moved.
