Novice pedal board questions

Usually I don't use enough pedals to require a board, but now it's looking like I might be moving around enough to warrant one.

What's a small cheap board that can fit an H90 and 5 Boss pedals. In theory I will only be using an H90 and 3 Boss pedals, but it's nice to have a decent sized guest spot.

Also, what's an alternative to velcro? I hate that stuff

I'll look into them. The velcro thing is more about not having to gum up the bottom of my pedal should I ever remove it

I use a hybrid attachment for mine: loop side Velcro on the boards, and Dual Lock on the pedals themselves.
A more solid connection than Velcro on both, but you can detach pedals without a lever if you want to.
For power supplies underneath I use Dual Lock on both sides.

I have been checking out holey boards so I can use zip ties and have the ties go across the width instead of up and down. Most pedal boards have slats that don’t allow for across-the-width zip ties.

Temple Boards have lots of holes on top, too. They have a mounting system that uses 'pedal plates', which work well. Zip ties work just as well but aren't as easy to reconfigure...especially on the fly.
The issue with most standard velcro isn't the velcro side- it is the glue. It doesn't work here in Florida with the heat and humidity. It fails a lot, leaving all of the pedals a gooey mess. Dual lock doesn't use the same kind of glue, and seems to work better. The glue fails after awhile, too, but it is easier to clean up.

You'd think there would be a good universal mounting system by now adopted by pedal makers, but nope.

I have been using the D'addario XPND lately and really like it. Adjustable length. Very handy for perfect sizing.

half inch plywood with zip ties
leave enough room for your power supply

my buddy used a tupperware lid
at the end of the show, he would just throw the cables in the bottom and flip it over on top
and walk out

i like the idea of a bath mat with the hook velcro on the pedals
walk in and "flap"
has the non skid backing

always buy a new one at Walmart for $5

get the one for the potty and set the Wah in the cutout

I made my boards out of pine 1x12. Spray painted black. I've had velcro on them for years with no problem - I use the Velcro-brand "industrial strength" stuff. But I live in the northeast, so I guess my "hot and humid" is like a cool, arid sort of day in FL.
