Fender Bass Six. I'm going to pull some strings and see how much cash I can free up. has anyone used or seen one?

Re: Now here's a bass i can't wait to get my hands on...

[In Frankie Howerd "Lurkio" voice.] Nay, nay and, thrice, nay.

The Fender Bass VI is only worth buying as an investment or, just possibly, for instrumental Surf music.

Re: Now here's a bass i can't wait to get my hands on...

Why buy a six string bass? because Its just guitar, it has six strings, LOL

Re: Now here's a bass i can't wait to get my hands on...

At least it's not a Sea Foam Green one, otherwise you could never look at or point at it, much less play it.

Re: Now here's a bass i can't wait to get my hands on...

nice! i've always dug those fender VIs. good luck. that would be a great addition to the axe stable.

Re: Now here's a bass i can't wait to get my hands on...

It would be fun to dork around on one for a little bit.

It's a baritone. I have heard they are hard to keep in tune. I tried one and they are bright and without much sustain. They would work for surf or spaghetti western instrumentals. It's basically a baritone Jaguar.

Exactly. If any instrument is shaped like a Fender Jaguar, AZ will dig it. 7,222 and counting. :D

AZ if you want a guitar like that try the Music Man Silhouette bass which is a modern six string tenor guitar. Not the right shape but a better instrument.
Or sell a lot of stuff and get Trussart to make you one like Alex Hake's which would be the right shape and much better than a vintage one.

He doesn't. AZ is just obsessed with the Fender Jaguar. Next thing we know, he will be forming garden soil into piles in the shape of a Fender Jaguar. Then, he will drive all around the country in search of a mountain in the exact shape of a Fender Jaguar and expect to find an alien spaceship parked nearby.

As it happens I keep thinking of building a baritone Jaguar with G&L pickups but the original wiring. It should work.

yes.

but as a matter of fact, i like the instrument because mark hoppus from blink-182 (bassist) used to perform with one live for a couple of songs, and it always caught my attention.

then i found out Robert Smith used to play one.

Re: Now here's a bass i can't wait to get my hands on...

my little sister has the Jaguar Baritone they reissued lately -- basically an 'updated' Bass VI.

It's not much of a bass but it's a HELL of a baritone. We used to jump the channels from my Bassman pushing two 4x12 cabs into a 300watt bass amp pushing a 15 and pass the Jaguar Baritone around like a blunt. Stick a Big Muff in there somewhere and immerse yourself in it.

I would like to hear one with the SD QP Jaguar pickups.

Robert Smith's was a later Baritone Jazzmaster. Same sort of thing but with Jazzmaster pickup's originally. You can see it in a couple of Banshee's videos.
