I really like the looks and the tones I'm getting with the VPAF Hot and so I'll now order the matching VPAF Neck pickup for my SG....

I Like what Dimarzio has to offer so far in this series.

Sweet glad you like them! Did you buy it local or an online vendor?

I bought the VPAF Hot from an E Bay Online vendor.....I'm friendly with Brian from Universal Jems and I'm ordering it from him.

Isn't it funny how the VHPAF's specs resemble the brobucker?

Dimarzio has a patent on the real creme colour on pickup bobbins so other manufaturers creme is slightly off.

Maybe, but the Brobucker won't have this "air" technology and it's something that adds extra coolness and vibe to the VPAF...

The VPAF series isn't quite a 10k pickup either,as the VPAF Hot version rates at 9.13K..Close though.

How does it work exactly? Is there simply just an airgap between the slugs & screwpoles and the magnet?

Not really sure, but I think I did read that somewhere?

Jeff B
are the VPAFs an uneven wind?

More than likely because it has that crunch factor and note definition of an mis-matched pickup....Sought of reminds me of a warmer, rounder Fred pickup with slightly less mids, more lows, and just overall fuller sounding...Great pickup! Really enjoying it in my Gibson SG.The double creme bobbins look great also and I'm "normally always" a nickel cover lover...LOL

Nice oxy moron.....Normally always! LOL

StratDeluxer,

Sounds like you really like the VPAFs! I might have to put it on the short list to replace the Burstfarters in my Les...

hey stratdeluxer, i always thought there must be something behind the Virtual Vintage thing. In my VPAF the coil are dead equal in resistance, but i suspect that they use different wire gauge to create uneven coils which have more turns but the same resistance.
Nightburst, the airbucker gap is done by 4 silicone rings at high and low e stud and screws. A member of this forum placed some pics a while ago showing his Bluesbucker and his VPAF open.

Cool I'll search for it, thanks.

Damn Stratdeluxer, I can't stop wondering about the VHPAF! :yell:
I'm expecting a review of how it compares to the Brobucker as soon as it arrives! :fingersx:
