Now I'm in BIG TROUBLE with my JB

The black lead on the slug coil broke when I tried to solder the cable lead to it!

I removed the tape and the black lead sort of fell off the coil... How can I fix that??? Is this lead normally soldered to the end of the coil wire??? Is is just soldered to the side of the coil?

HELP! :yell: :yell: :yell: :yell: :yell: :yell:

You might be S.O.L on this one bro. Usually when this happens, it is extremly hard to fix if you can fix it. Try to find the end of the coil wire and try to re-attach the wire. Thats about it. Good luck.

Well... it's dead... I saw several places where the coil wire is brocken. This is now good for the A5 magnet and the pole pieces

You can always send it to MJ to get rewound to anything you want. I think prices start around $75.

I've got one to sell, lot's of lead left--$50 shipped!!!!!!!!!

Well... I'll still try to fix it. If the coil it's broken only in it's surface then there is a chance to repair it. Take all the broken leads (if they aren't too many) and ussing a multimeter find out which one it's conected to the white wire. If the main part on the bobbin it's still complete then there must be a beginnig and an end. The begining is one of the broken parts of the coil and the end it's the white cable. To effectively use the multimeter you'll need to sand the copper wire isolation. Solde the black conductor to the beginig of the coil and you are done.

You'll have a unbalance coils JB!! :)

And the bobbins, spacers and baseplate...all you really need is new wire (SD also offers a rewinding service, btw, and when doing that they can turn the PUP into almost anything, and it´s cheaper than the CS, too)

But it still sucks for ya, bro...btu it seems to be something we all have to go thruough, knackering a pickup ;)

Zerb it's right... SD offers rewinding services which may be very affordable for people living in the States. Everything it's expesive on the other side of the ocean!

Re: Now I'm in BIG TROUBLE with my JB

Thanks guys, but this one will RIP... it's cracked, stained and plain ugly. And it's white (don't take it personally Chris ;) )... so I'm not gonna spend money on this anyway :)

Look at the bright side, it gives you an excuse to buy a new one.
